Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day.
Madeline is the best Valentine's gift ever!!!
We went to Baby Bookworms at the library this morning and then played the rest of the day!
Madeline got tons of cards and love this Valentine's Day.
Her gift from Mom and Dad arrived right when we were about to put her in the bath.

She was not crazy about the crawl tunnel.
She was a little scared of it.
She hated when I crawled in it and it took me a little while to get out and she did not like that at all.

 Her first flash light.
And her favorite gift......
 a box, of course

Historic Snow Storm

Wednesday, January 9
7:33 A.M.
A passing car got stuck in front of our house.
We fed the birds and there ended up being tons of them.

Very messy breakfast. Madeline would not let us feed her.

 2:30 P.M.

Madeline stood on her own for her first time.
I was walking into the kitchen and she was pushing up on a backpack and she pushed all the way up. She just stood there and looked at me like "okay, what do I do now, mom". I was yelling Ben's name and screaming with excitement, clapping my hands. After about 30 seconds, she slowly went back onto her bottom. She was very proud of herself and so were Ben and I!!

News said Fayetteville got 18 inches of snow. (I think we got a little more)
Springdale and Siloam Springs 24 inches.

Super Bowl XLV

Since I only work two days a week, I enjoy my time in the office. My office was closed last Tuesday and Wednesday due to weather so I worked hard yesterday to catch up. Well, I woke up this morning to get ready for work and looked out the window and immediately knew my office would be closed. We are in the middle of a historic snow storm. I have never seen snow come down so quickly. The news is saying we may get 10-16+ inches of snow today.
So instead of getting ready for work, I decided to blog about the fun Super Bowl Party we attended.
Madeline's Aunt Karrie had a Super Bowl Party and there were lots of babies and tons of good food. Karrie used to hold parties and we would take our dogs, now everyone brings their babies!

Madeline kept crawling from Asher's carseat to Austyn's carseat to check them out.

Madeline telling Mommy her team is #1

Below are several pictures of all the babies:
From left to right:
Austyn and Asher McCarty, Porter Rutledge, Arden Shipp, Ellison Clark, Madeline Penix

Lots of teething babies.

Sweet twins!
There were a set of triplets waiting to come out and play across the room!
We are still waiting on the Elliott triplets, but they need to stay put for a little while longer.

 Play time!!

Porter, your toy looks so much better than my toy.

Madeline getting some lovin' from Ms. Hillary.
Arden was giving Madeline hugs but we missed the shot.

Madeline was playing earlier in the day and fell forward and hit the desk in the office/playroom. She went to the party with a bruise on her forehead. While we were there, she was playing around the coffee table and fell and busted her little lip. She was fine, but the tiny bit of blood made me a little nauseous.

Gotta go! There is a car stuck in the middle of the road in front of our house because the snow is so deep. Ben is about to go and help dig them out so they can get off the road before it gets a lot worse. The news said cars are getting stuck because of the deep snow. Guess this car did not watch the news this morning!

Update: the driver just left their car. It is stuck for days!

10 Month Update: January 24, 2010

Look at that tunky:
We combined the words Tummy and Chunky

A little late, but better late than never......

On January 24, Madeline turn 10 months old! I cannot believe she is already in the month double digits.
I can honestly say that I have loved every stage, but she has kept us laughing constantly.
Personality really started shining through. She loves to put on a show and loves attention.
She started sharing her food, even though she will put it up to your mouth, She usually ends up taking it back and puts it into her mouth.
She finally started crawling on all fours instead of her military crawl (January 15). Ben was out of town with some friends and Madeline and I were at my mom's house. I was on the phone with Ben and she just started going on all fours. Ben was so sad he missed it. That is the same weekend Ben said he left a baby and she was a little girl when he returned, which I totally agree with. I feel like she changed overnight.
She started pulling up. Played a fun game of peek-a-boo with the coffee table. She would go down in a baby squat and then come up really fast to surprise us on the other side of the coffee table. Sound effects included. She would put her arm and hand in the air sometimes in order to intensify the surprise.
Still sleeps in our bed. Usually asleep around 6:45-7 and wakes up around 7 am for the day. She wakes up twice during the night, but for only a few minutes.
Does not like pureed food at all. Loves mushrooms. I made a baby friendly mushroom sauce for her whole wheat noodles and was a little worried about it. She picked the mushrooms out and ate them first. I also made a baby mushroom barley casserole and she loved it.
She gets very excited when we pull out the bag of yogurt bites for dessert. Her arms and legs start moving with excitement.
Hard to get a picture of her because she is constantly on the go.
Still loves the dogs.
We gave her first hair cut. We did not do very well. I held her bangs up and Ben took a snip. They were shorter in the middle and got longer. We will not do that again!
Hit her separation anxiety stage when we drop her off at school or the church nursery. Breaks our hearts, but she is fine once we leave the room.
Words: Momma, Dada and Poppa, Puppy. She wakes up in the morning and looks at the foot of the bed for the dogs and says Puppy (sounds more like Pupp-i)
Ben has started going by Poppa. She was not saying Dada very much and was saying Puppy all the time so Ben would correct her saying Puppy with the word Poppa.
Started making lots of faces and mimicking what we do. Most made face during the month was her face with her puckered lips making the "o" shape.
Ben was leaning back making a Tim the Tool time grunt and she leaned back, head up and made the grunting noise too.
Loves to have her teeth brushed.

Learned how lipstick is put on. The other day Ben was putting on chapstick and Madeline watched him and then got really still and pucked her lips for him to put some on her. After that, Ben called  laughing and said he was not sure whether he should be happy or mad that my mom and me taught her about lipstick.
She learned the, I throw it down and someone will pick it up for me game. She thinks it is a pretty funny game to play.

She is a precious little sweetheart and I am learning to enjoy so much more in life from her! She is the best teacher I have ever had. We are so thankful for the joy she has brought into our lives!

We love  you baby girl!
