At the beginning of Graham's 4 month appointment, the doctor told me to wait until 6 months to feed him any food since he's a bf baby. I told him he always watches people eat, chews with them and dives for food when I holding him and putting food in my mouth. The other day he got mad watching us eat, he started screaming and turning a little red. By the end of his 4 month appointment, the doctor said he is a determined, big and really strong boy, He will probably want to start eating before 6 months and to wait a couple of weeks. Well, I planned on tomorrow at lunch being his first day for solids so I made him sweet potatoes, pureed them and was getting ready to put them in the bowl to be stored for our special lunch tomorrow. Ben and Graham walked into the kitchen and they both started eying the food. Ben asked if he could go ahead and give Graham a little. I said sure. I expected the same terrible/hilarious faces Madeline made the first time she had food (butternut squash), but no, he jumped right in and started eating. At first he wasn't quite sure how to keep it in his mouth or swallow the food, but it took no time at all for him to figure it out and jump right into eating. After watching him, I know we made the right decision to go ahead and feed him a few weeks shy of being 6 months. He is definitely ready for food. I look forward to putting him in his highchair and feeding him again.
What a big week! Started school and started eating solids!
He is growing up way too quickly!
